Magic: The Gathering librarians and archivists
People who play Magic: The Gathering will know that one of these cards comes from a “silly” card set rather than a regular one. People who don’t play Magic: The Gathering will probably consider all the cards equally silly.
Thanks, Steve Lawson!
Feminist Library on Wheels
The Feminist Library on Wheels (F.L.O.W.) in Los Angeles, CA lends books from bicycles. Yes they do! The collection is cataloged with LibraryThing and they are accepting donations of books and money. They have a handy wishlist online. Thanks, Bust Magazine!
card catalog card art
Minnesota Public Radio has an article on cool stuff people are doing with old card catalog cards. Look at these beautiful things Vickie Moore and Stephanie Duimstra are making. Just look at ’em! Thanks, Jennifer Resnick!
Rupert Giles’s library school classes
If you’ve been looking for a list of library school classes that prepare you for being a Watcher to a Slayer, look no further. Thanks, Shanon Lawson!
amazing library cake
Kathy Knaus made this cake for someone called Sarah. I await further information and will share it if I get it. Thanks, Tabitha Dial!
Addendum, August 21: see the cake-creator’s comments, below.
dancing in the library
Ohhhhhh …. look at these many dance performances incorporating books and/or libraries. At least two of the dances took place in the glass-walled stacks of a rare book library! The final video on the list reminds me of playing you-can’t-touch-the-floor and using books from a multi-volume set as stepping stones. Thanks, Dina Wood.
libraries rock
Emily Lloyd, librarian and poet (and all around nice person), made this rockin’ gif. It won’t start rockin’ until you click it. Thanks, Emily!
stapler graveyard
In honor of Halloween, Carleton College’s library has created a spooky stapler graveyard. Perhaps they were inspired by Colorado College’s stapler obituaries mini-exhibit? More pictures of the graveyard are available at Carleton’s Facebook page. Thanks, Iris Jastram!
CC students respond to library annoyances

The “Let’s CC the World” Tumblr feed has a couple of funny visual aids for library annoyances:
When People Use the Library as a Place to Socialize (featuring a panda!)
and
When You Suddenly Lose Service in the Library (featuring Doctor Who!).
It’s nice to know that some students have the same crazy love for the library as we librarians do! Thanks, Dina Wood, for pointing these out to me.
The zine for the 2015 Tutt Library Annual Haiku contest, available in the Colorado College Zine Collection, contains two yeti-related haiku/senryu/non-haiku. The first, by yours truly, reads: a yeti visits / its heart says it loves this place / yeti, we do too. The second, attributed to the yeti, reads:
YETI LORVE LIBRARYRE
YETI LORVE BOOKS AND POMES
YETI NOT COUNT SILLBULLS
WHAT SILBBULL ANYWAY
